Easter eggs are usually painted on Thursday. This day is dedicated to household chores, when housewives not only paint eggs, but also bake cakes. This is done so that on Friday nothing distracts from prayers and attending services. On Saturday, the painted eggs are consecrated in the temple and are awaiting Easter.

Before you paint your eggs for Easter, you need to take them out of the refrigerator to keep them warm. If you paint the eggs by boiling with special additives, then the cold shell may crack and the egg will leak into the water. In order to prevent the appearance of cracks, half a teaspoon of salt is added to the water.

To ensure that the paint lays down evenly, wash the eggs with a brush and soap. You can additionally wipe them with an alcohol solution.

The easiest way to color the eggs is with onion peels. To do this, place the eggs in a saucepan, fill with water so that it completely covers the eggs, and add the husks. The more husk, the more intense the resulting color will be. Boil the eggs in the broth for at least a quarter of an hour. The most saturated color will turn out if you leave the eggs in a saucepan with the broth overnight.

Speckled eggs are obtained original. To do this, wet the egg and roll it over the rice scattered on the table. Fix the rice stuck to the shell with gauze, tightly wrapping it around the egg. When boiling eggs in a decoction of the husks, the rice will leave lighter spots on the eggs after washing.

You can use not only onion peels, but also other natural dyes. Burgundy eggs will turn out if you boil them in water with the addition of chopped beets or leave them already boiled in beet juice overnight.

Ground coffee has similar properties. By boiling eggs in its broth, you can get a brown shade of the shell.
