Cooked chicken is a staple ingredient in many salads. Despite the almost complete absence of fat, it remains tasty and juicy, especially when properly cooked and paired with suitable foods.
It is necessary
-
- hen;
- water;
- salt to taste;
- spice.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose chicken for cooking. Be guided by the recipe, but most often white meat is required in salads. Therefore, it is easier to buy chicken breast in the store, especially since then you will not need to suffer with the separation of bones. But a whole chicken will do. To keep the cooked chicken soft and juicy and the salad tasty, use only steamed or chilled young poultry. Even a long boil will not soften an old chicken.
Step 2
Rinse the chicken thoroughly under running water, especially when boiling whole poultry. If you do not plan to cook soup from the resulting broth, it is better to remove the skin from the chicken in advance, especially when the remains of feathers are present on it. Chicken skin is almost never added to salad.
Step 3
Place the chicken in a suitable sized saucepan, cover with cold water and heat over high heat. To make the broth light and clean, put the onion head to the chicken. You can also add salt to taste and your favorite spices there, for example, bay leaves or black peppercorns. But usually, if some spicy sauce is used in the salad, no ingredients are added during cooking so as not to spoil the taste of the dish later.
Step 4
Watch the boiling process carefully. As soon as foam begins to collect, immediately remove it, otherwise all of it will remain in the pan, and some of it will settle on the chicken. After the water has boiled and all the foam has been removed, turn on a small heat, cover the pan with a lid and cook the meat until tender. This usually takes 30-40 minutes, and the breast is cooked even less.
Step 5
When the meat is tender enough, place it on a plate and let cool to room temperature, as salads usually require cold chicken. After that, cut the meat into pieces of the desired shape and add to the salad. And from the finished broth, cook a delicious soup.
