It is necessary

  • - lentils (0.5 cups);
  • - freshly ground black salt and pepper;
  • - pearl barley (three tablespoons);
  • - thick tomato paste (two tablespoons);
  • - vegetable broth or filtered water (five glasses);
  • - cold-pressed olive oil (two tablespoons);
  • - pieces of peeled canned tomatoes in their own juice (one can);
  • - large peeled onions (one piece).

Instructions

Step 1

Rinse the pearl barley in cold water and soak it for several hours. After a certain time, put the pearl barley in a colander or on a sieve, let the water drain. Pour lentils into a large saucepan, add pearl barley, a little dried there, pour in the required amount of vegetable broth or filtered water, cook over low heat until cooked.

Step 2

Heat olive oil in a heavy-bottomed pan, fry chopped onions in it until golden brown. After eight minutes, add tomato paste and canned tomato slices along with juice to the onion. Season vegetables with salt and pepper, stir and sauté for three minutes.

Step 3

After three minutes, transfer the contents of the pan to a saucepan with cereals, mix and bring to a boil. Remove the pan from heat, sprinkle the lean tomato soup with chopped fresh herbs and garlic. Cover the soup with a lid, leave for another ten minutes, then serve.
