Home Brewing Ingredients

Do-it-yourself brewing products can vary, but without some of them, you can't make a real intoxicating drink. To brew a traditional beer, you need five basic ingredients:

  • water;
  • hop;
  • Brewer's yeast;
  • malt;
  • sugar.

The water for making beer with your own hands should be soft and clean. It is best to use spring water, but you can also pass the water taken from the tap through a filter. Before brewing beer, it is necessary to grind the malt in a special mill so that the husk remains intact. Hop cones should be yellowish and reddish, damaged, dry and rotten must not be used. Hops must be of excellent quality, since the taste of the drink depends on it. It is recommended to use brewer's yeast, but if it is not possible to purchase it, then you can take ordinary yeast.

Necessary equipment

The equipment for brewing beer is not at all complicated, besides, the necessary tools can be found in almost any kitchen or easily purchased at a regular dishware store. To make beer at home, you will need:

  • large enamel pan;
  • thermometer;
  • gauze or strainer;
  • funnel;
  • bottles or glass jars;
  • large tank.

Traditional home beer recipe - step by step

To brew a traditional bread beer, in addition to the five main ingredients, you need rye bread and salt. The number of components should be as follows:

  • 100 g hops:
  • 150 g malt;
  • 600 g rye bread;
  • 12 g brewer's yeast;
  • salt on the tip of a knife;
  • 0, 5 tbsp. Sahara;
  • 10 liters of water.
  1. Prepare all ingredients. Cut the bread into pieces and dry them lightly in the oven. Dissolve the yeast in warm water with a little sugar.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the crackers, salt and malt. Add yeast diluted in water.
  3. Pour hops with a little water, place on the stove and simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. Add the broth to the bread and malt mixture. Fill everything with warm water. As a result, you should end up with a fairly thick mass. This is called wort.
  5. Cover the pot with the wort with a clean towel and place it in a warm place overnight to ferment.
  6. When the wort begins to ferment, pour 5 liters of warm water into it. Stir the mass and send it back to a warm place for 2 days.
  7. Strain the resulting infusion through a strainer or cheesecloth folded in several layers.
  8. Pour another 5 liters of hot water into the thick (the temperature should be about 90 degrees), mix everything and let the mass cool to 30 degrees (measure the temperature of the infusion with a thermometer).
  9. Strain the liquid and pour it into the fermented wort.
  10. Bring everything to a boil, skimming off the resulting foam. Strain the mixture again.
  11. Pour the finished beer into sterilized bottles or cans and seal them tightly.
  12. Pour cold ice water into a large tank and place beer bottles in it to cool.
  13. When the drink has cooled down, transfer the bottles to the refrigerator. Homemade beer can be tasted after 2 weeks.
