Carp, which belongs to the carp family, is distinguished by a large number of bones and the presence of a smell, however, when properly processed and cooked, the dish from this fish turns out to be tender and tasty. Let's prepare oven-baked carp.
How to choose and prepare carp for cooking
When choosing fish, remember that it is best to purchase fresh carp. The fish should have red gills and transparent eyes. Also, the carp must be properly cut: to do this, clean the fish, remove the insides from the abdomen, cut off the fins, tail and head, and rinse the carcass well during cooking. For portion cooking, divide the fillet in two along the spine and remove the large bones. If you want to cook the whole carp, then it will be enough to cut off the head and remove the entrails.
In order to eliminate the smell of fish, it is good to soak the carp in milk for 20-30 minutes, and also put dill in the belly of the fish when baking, which will take away the unpleasant smell.
How to cook carp in the oven
You will need:
- carp - 1 pc. (1.5 kg);
- onion - 1 pc.;
- carrots - 1 pc.;
- vegetable oil - 70 ml;
- lemon - 1 pc.;
- pepper, salt, seasonings and spices for baking fish - according to your taste.
Wash the carrots, peel and grate on a coarse grater. The onions must be washed and cut into cubes.
Pour oil into a skillet and fry the carrots and onions over medium heat. Cover a baking sheet with foil, then put your fish, pour the carp with lemon juice and rub with pepper and salt inside and out.
If the vegetables have become soft, then they can be removed from the pan. Put half of the vegetable mixture inside the carp, cover the rest of the fish on top.
Send the baking sheet with fish to the oven, preheated to 200 degrees, for about 40 minutes. After the specified time, the carp baked in the oven is completely ready. Transfer the fish to a dish, garnish with lemon slices, mayonnaise and herbs and you can safely serve it with your favorite side dish.
