Pomegranate is a unique oriental berry that is widely used in cosmetology, folk medicine and cooking. Despite the benefits of the pomegranate, inexperienced housewives are wary of it, because they do not know how to quickly peel the fruit without damaging its juicy grains.
You can quickly and easily peel the pomegranate from the thick peel, using the simplest manipulations and simple devices. At the same time, the capricious oriental berry will give you its grains without spilling a drop of precious juice, and your hands and clothes will remain clean.
Prepare everything you need
To quickly peel a pomegranate, you need a knife and cutting board. The knife should be small and well sharpened. The board can be anything, wood or plastic, it doesn't matter. You can use a regular plate instead of a cutting board.
Remove the crown from the fetus
Take a grenade in one hand, a sharp knife in the other. Step back 3-4 cm from the pomegranate stalk and cut the peel in a circle, gradually turning the fruit around its axis. The cut should be thin and not deep so that the knife does not damage the juicy pomegranate seeds. If you do everything right, the berry will not lose a single drop of its precious juice. Put the knife aside, pull the pomegranate stalk and separate the cut part ("crown") from the berry. If the fruit is ripe, then the "crown" will come off easily, and you will see even rows of mouth-watering pomegranate seeds.
Make vertical cuts on the pomegranate
Pomegranate has lobules that are separated from each other by thin yellowish membranes. Your goal is to make vertical incisions along these membranes, from the top of the fruit to the base. Try to be careful to cut only the skin of the pomegranate and not damage the seeds.
Divide the berry into wedges
Place the prepared pomegranate on a cutting board. Take a knife, insert its blade into the center of the fruit and, holding the berry with one hand, slowly turn the handle of the knife around its axis with the other. Under the pressure of the knife blade, the peel at the cuts will burst and the pomegranate will open into slices. If the pomegranate has partially opened, carefully separate the slices from each other and clean the grains from the membranes.
Enjoy the result
Now you know how to properly peel a pomegranate. The proposed method will take you quite a bit of time, while your hands and clothes will remain clean and dry, and the berry will retain its precious juice.
