You can, of course, acquire such a useful unit in the household as a special universal grater for carrots or an ordinary vegetable cutter. However, true culinary experts prefer to show their skill by hand-slicing carrots in the most bizarre ways. So, take a sharpened knife with a stiff thin blade. Wash and peel the carrots.

Step 2

Chopping into strips is one of the most common ways to aesthetically chop carrots. Slice the carrots lengthwise into fairly thin slices. Then cut the stacked carrot slices diagonally, backing off only 2-3 mm. Take your time to make the straws even and neat. The shredder will result in long, thin strips, perfect for both salad and soup.

For pilaf, carrots require a larger cut. In no case do not grate it, as it will lose its juiciness from the very first minutes of cooking. Suitable as half rings of carrots with a thickness of 3 mm, and large short straws also from 3-4 mm in thickness. Cutting should be done in the same way as for small strips. First, divide the carrots lengthwise, and then into strips and then into strips.

For the Korean Carrot salad, the shredder should be very long. The transverse straw can be a bit short, so the slicing method is slightly different.
