Lent is the longest fast of the year, so not everyone can adhere to it. The fact is that not many people have the willpower to completely exclude animal products and fish from their menu for a fairly long period of time - 48 days. And here it is worth noting that during the fasting period there are days when you can enjoy fish dishes and caviar, although you can taste them only three times during the 48-day "diet".

When can you eat fish during Lent in 2019

Lent is a very strict fast, because fasting people should not include many things in their menu (meat, milk and egg-containing products), but give preference to raw food (vegetables and fruits) and cereals. Agree, it is very difficult to withstand such food, which is why not all believers decide on it.

Despite the severity of the fast, there are also days of indulgence in it, when it is permissible to eat fish and caviar. You can taste these dishes on special church holidays - Annunciation, Palm Sunday and Lazarev Saturday. However, do not forget that caviar is allowed on the last of the listed holidays, which will be April 20 in 2019. And on April 7 and 21 (the dates are written according to the names) it is not forbidden to taste a fish dish once a day.

Important: it is very difficult to observe Great Lent, especially for people engaged in hard physical labor, so the church does not insist on strict adherence to the diet, but only recommends adhering to a lean diet, reducing the amount of food of animal origin.
