Lent is the toughest in terms of its limitations, so there are a lot of questions about what is not eaten during the post. In practice, it is difficult to just start, while then doubts about the permissibility of certain products disappear by themselves.
It is necessary
lean foods
Instructions
Step 1
Any meat is strictly forbidden during fasting, no matter what type of meat it belongs to. This rule also applies to poultry and fish, so you cannot cook dishes from them either. Opinions differ only about seafood, as they belong to a different family than fish. But true believers believe that mollusks are also alive, so there is no special difference between them and fish, so it is also better to refuse to use them.
Step 2
Fasting food should only be plant-based. Animal products are light food, which includes not only the flesh of animals itself, but also everything that is obtained with their participation. This is milk, any dairy products, sour cream, yoghurts, kefir, eggs, including egg powder, so often added by manufacturers to various products.
Step 3
Do not eat in fasting not only such products in their pure form, but also any other dishes containing them. That is, it is quite acceptable to drink coffee with the addition of vegetable cream, while it is impossible to have breakfast with pancakes with an acceptable filling of jam or potatoes, when milk and eggs are part of the dough. Therefore, most baked goods are not allowed, unless they are lean.
Step 4
Mayonnaise, which contains both butter and eggs, is not allowed as a sauce, so salads are best seasoned with soy sauce or lemon juice.
Step 5
It is forbidden to consume any alcohol, despite the fact that in natural recipes it must be of plant origin. This is due to the fact that fasting is primarily a cleansing of the soul, not a diet, and alcohol for a person is an excess, not a necessity.
Step 6
The ban also applies to vegetable oil, but here the situation is not so categorical. Oil is permitted on Saturday, Sunday and Church holidays.
