There are a number of food products in the world whose cost seems too high to many people. Most of their price is due to the complexity of production or rarity. The most expensive meat in the world belongs to such products.
Marbled beef is the most expensive in the world
The average price of beef in Russia does not exceed 500 rubles per kilogram, so it is difficult to imagine that there are people on the planet who are ready to buy cow meat at a price over a thousand dollars per kilogram. Nevertheless, there are more than enough such buyers, and they pay such a high price for the most expensive meat in the world - marbled beef.
The high cost of marbled beef is associated not only with the complex technology of raising cows, but also with the fact that there are not so many parts in a cow carcass suitable for cooking steaks.
Marbled beef is a type of meat rich in thin layers of fat, which gives the cut of beef a marble-like appearance. Thanks to these layers, marbled beef dishes have a particularly delicate and delicate taste, as well as exceptional softness, since the fat is converted into meat juices during the rapid heat treatment.
The price of such beef strongly depends on the quantity and thickness of the layers. Naturally, the highest value is given to meat, which contains many thin layers, and not a couple of layers of fat as thick as a finger. For several centuries, the best marbled beef was produced in Japan, where the Wagyu bulls were kept literally in heavenly conditions, including a special feeding regime and careful dietary control. Now marbled meat is exported by Australia, New Zealand, USA, Latin American countries, but Japanese beef is still considered the best.
According to research by scientists, marbled beef is not only tasty, but also able to reduce the risk of cancer.
Why can meat be so expensive?
To obtain an ideal result, Vagiu bulls are kept milk-fed for a long time, and at the age of six months they are sent to graze. After some time, the animals are placed in individual stalls, where they are suspended on a special sling system, which does not allow them to move, but at the same time does not allow fat to accumulate in one place, since the muscles of the bulls are in tension. For seven to ten months they are fed the highest quality grain, watered with beer or red wine, massaged and played classical music for better digestion. In Japan, animals are daily rubbed with local vodka - sake. It is believed that this has a positive effect on the taste of meat, which is then used to make the most expensive steak in the world. On some farms, honey is added to the diet of cows, which, when frying meat, caramelizes, creates an appetizing crust.
