There is not always time to run to the store for fresh vegetables and fruits. But a good housewife will definitely make sure that there are fresh and healthy products at hand at any moment for serving or for preparing a delicious dish. Know that if you want to preserve your crops, vegetables and fruits for long enough, this is not difficult to do.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, start by preparing food for long-term storage. Make sure that the skin is not damaged. You do not need to wash vegetables and fruits. You will do this just before serving. If the product is not ripe, then put it to ripen in a cool place where there is no access to the sun's rays.

Step 2

Be aware that fruits and vegetables are stored differently. Some of them do not tolerate "neighborhood" with each other. So, never store apples and bananas in one together. And tomatoes are placed for storage in a cool place, necessarily separately from all other vegetables.

Step 3

Storing vegetables and fruits takes place at different temperatures. For example, cucumbers and bell peppers cannot be stored at too low temperatures. Therefore, place them on the lowest shelf in the refrigerator, pre-packed in perforated plastic bags. But cabbage, carrots and radishes "like" low temperatures. Wrap these vegetables, each separately, in plastic bags, which do not forget to pierce so that the products "breathe". Then place them in the refrigerator and store at zero temperature.

Step 4

If you have an underground basement or shed, prepare storage boxes for potatoes and carrots in advance. Pour sand or ash into them. This will keep the vegetables fresh for a long time. Before storing them underground, dry them in a warm place out of the sun for a week. A small crust forms on potatoes and carrots. Then arrange the vegetables in the drawers in layers, remembering to periodically open the underfloor and ventilate. And during cold weather, cover your vegetables with a warm cloth.

Step 5

Apples for storage are recommended to be wrapped in paper in advance. Put them in boxes and store in a cool place, or in the basement, but not next to the potatoes.

Step 6

Wrap the grapes in a cloth without rinsing in advance, and then put them in a plastic bag, which do not forget to pierce. Store in a cool place, and do not allow spoiled fruits with whole fruits. This will prevent you from saving your harvest.
