Wine is a drink of the gods, dry and semi-sweet, white wine can crown any celebration or become an integral part of an evening for two or a modest family dinner, adding a touch of solemnity to it.
In choosing such an exquisite drink as white wine, you should rely on your own tastes and preferences, giving the leading role to the composition, region of production, the presence of an excise stamp, and not at all a high price tag in an expensive store, because white wine a priori has a lower price than wine that has reddish tint.
Bung
Contrary to popular belief that a quality white wine should be capped with a cork stopper, there are a huge number of modern brands that have a screw cap or silicone cap. This trait is not at all characteristic of bad white wine, but rather symbolizes a modern approach to established traditions.
Country of Origin
It should also be remembered that many wine countries provide excellent low-cost alternatives to established wine brands, such as white wines.
- Portugal, - Chile, - New Zealand, - South Africa. The brands represented by these countries have a less significant margin than drinks brought from the old world, France, Germany, Italy. This fact is often explained by the mono composition of inexpensive white wines, in contrast to the complex recipe of drinks brought from European countries, which have been engaged in winemaking since ancient times.
You should not give up domestic wines, wines of Georgia and Moldova, which, along with democratic prices, often offer excellent quality of the drink.
Freshness of white wine
Some white wines taste good only when fresh, these include wines called Shiraz and Sauvignon. It is worth remembering that the age of white wine, which supposedly determines its taste characteristics, is more a myth than a reality. Pay close attention to the type of label, the indication of the manufacturer (it is better if it is large), the specific region of harvest.
Foreign wine, provided with a Russian-language label and incomplete information about the manufacturer, most likely, was bottled specifically for the exporting country, and can hardly offer a decent quality.
Buy bottles with a classic shape, not weighted with tinsel and fancy decorations. Pay attention to dry wines, they are the ones that are deprived of that sweetish taste, which sometimes hides not too high-quality bouquet, preservatives and flavors. The most popular among inexpensive white wines, according to a special rating, are wines made from Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Muscat, Pinot grape varieties.
