The founder of the Samara brewery is a nobleman Alfred von Wakano who came from Austria to the Volga city, who quickly became Russified and even received a patronymic Filippovich. It was he who founded his beer enterprise on the banks of the Volga River, and also laid the Pushkin Square and Teatralny Square located next to it. The successors of the von Wakano case were his sons Lothar and Vladimir, who, unfortunately, lost almost all of their property after the Bolsheviks came to power in the country. The brothers lost several houses in Samara, a brewery and other enterprises, as well as numerous art collections that Alfred Filippovich collected so carefully and with such difficulty.

"Zhigulevskoe" is a beer variety, beloved by all Samara residents, prepared on the basis of light barley malt, barley and hops. This beer has a low gravity of 11% and an alcohol content of 4.5% with a pleasant hop bitterness. The traditional packaging for Zhigulevskoe is a 0.5 liter glass bottle.

For the 130th anniversary of the brewery in Samara in 2011, another variety, "Fon Wakano 1881" (4.5% alcohol and 12% density), brewed according to the classic canons of the beer industry, was also released for sale and production. The record holder in terms of density (15%) is "Staraya Samara", produced for the 125th anniversary of the brewery. The alcohol content is 5.4% with a mild wine taste and pleasant hop bitterness.
