Pomegranate is one of the healthiest fruits on the planet. It contains a huge amount of various vitamins and minerals. Under a thick dark red crust, at least four hundred seeds with juicy pulp are hidden, separated by a thin membrane film.
Pomegranate is one of those rare foods in which everything is useful - juice, peel, grains, seeds. Various parts of the fruit are used in cooking, medicine, and cosmetology. Eating even a small fruit, a person significantly increases the body's resistance to various kinds of infections. In addition, the fruit helps fight anemia, normalizes (lowers) blood pressure, has a beneficial effect on the nervous system, treats diarrhea, lowers blood sugar, removes radiation, has an anthelmintic effect, and increases the activity of hormones. Pomegranate juice is used to treat tonsillitis, pharyngitis, stomatitis, the tannins contained in pomegranate relieve pain.
The pomegranate contains 15 amino acids, vitamins and minerals: B6, B12, C, P, iron, calcium, silicon, potassium, iodine.
To choose a tasty and healthy pomegranate in a store or market, pay attention to its appearance. Its relief should be bumpy, i.e. the outlines of the upper rows of grains should be visible through the peel. The place where the fruit has a peculiar crown of leaves should not be green. The fruit should be firm to the touch and have a dry crust. A pomegranate with a smooth crust is more likely to be unripe.
If we talk about how you can properly and accurately clean a grenade, it should be noted that this task has several ways to solve. The first option: cut off both tops of the pomegranate with a sharp knife, and then, trying to penetrate shallowly with the knife, cut through the peel of the fruit in a spiral. After that, you should take it in your hands, as you usually take the ball, and, turning your palms in opposite directions and pulling, open the fruit. Thus, it turns into a long ribbon with pyramids of grains inside.
The ability to properly peel a pomegranate is a very valuable skill in helping not to get dirty during the process and not damage the seeds used for food.
The second option: to start with a pomegranate, you need to cut off the top with a tail. White streaks should be visible in the cut. Now you need to make an X-shaped cut in it. When this is done, place the pomegranate in a large container filled with water and gently peel it off. Using your fingers, peel the berries off the skins. In this case, the grains will sink to the bottom of the container, and the veins will float up and it will be easy to remove them.
You can also clean the pomegranate in one more way: everything is done as in the previous version, however, after making the incisions, the fruit is not placed in water, but holding it over the dishes, tap on it with a spoon. All grains should successfully leave their place and migrate to the plate without splashing.
The question often arises as to whether there is a pomegranate with or without seeds. Both methods are valid. However, when you consume the whole grains, you get additional benefits, because they contain substances such as fiber, phytohormones, essential oils. They help maintain a good hormonal background, help with painful periods, fight irritability and migraines, and normalize blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
