Kalina has long been known to people as a useful and healing berry, which was first reliably mentioned in the sixteenth century. Despite the fact that viburnum berries rank first in terms of the content of vitamins in them, the leaves of the plant, its seeds and even the bark also have healing properties.
Viburnum with honey and sugar
Kalina provides invaluable help with high blood pressure, vitamin deficiency, colds and seizures. In addition to many useful substances, it contains pectins, which help to remove strontium, cobalt and radionuclides from the body. However, in order to be able to be treated with viburnum for a long time, it must be prepared according to proven recipes.
Usually viburnum berries are harvested in the fall, immediately after the first frost - it is during this period that they acquire a tart and sweetish taste.
To cook viburnum with honey for the winter, you need to pour boiling water over its berries and rub through a sieve to remove the peel and bones. The resulting berry mass must be mixed with honey using a 1: 1 ratio, and put the mixture in a cold place. It can be consumed after a week of standing.
To prepare viburnum with sugar, 0.5-0.7 kilograms of sugar are required for each kilogram of berries. Kalina must be rinsed, dried on a paper towel and mixed with sugar in clean glass jars. At the same time, the berries must be completely covered with sugar, and the jars must be closed with nylon lids. Keep the finished mixture in the refrigerator.
Viburnum drinks for the winter
To prepare viburnum juice, you will need 1 kilogram of viburnum, sugar or honey and 250 milliliters of water. The berries must be crushed and squeezed out of the juice, and the seeds and skins must be boiled in water for 10-15 minutes. The resulting broth must be thoroughly filtered, mixed with the juice of berries, add sugar or honey and put the drink in a cold place.
Viburnum juice should not be drunk undiluted, since it is quite concentrated. It should be diluted with water.
To prepare fruit drink from viburnum, you will need 250 milliliters of juice from viburnum berries, a liter of water, honey or sugar. Viburnum juice must be diluted with chilled boiled water, add sugar or honey and infuse the drink for 5 hours.
Viburnum syrup is prepared as follows: a liter of viburnum juice, 10 grams of citric acid and 2 kilograms of sugar are taken. The juice is mixed with sugar and brought to a boil. The resulting foam must be removed, add citric acid and boil the syrup for another 5 minutes. Then the syrup must be filtered through cheesecloth and poured into jars (bottles) for storage. In any of the above cases, the preparation of viburnum will not lose its healing properties and will help to cope with diseases in the long cold winter.
