They make delicious jam from viburnum berries, squeeze juices, prepare marmalade and marshmallow. If you are already familiar with these recipes, try something new - for example, viburnum tincture. The drink turns out to be very tasty, it has a subtle recognizable shade of viburnum berries and a rich ruby-red color.
Viburnum medicinal tincture
Viburnum tincture will help with colds, hypertension and pulmonary diseases. For medicinal purposes, you need to take no more than three tablespoons of the drink after meals. The tincture can also be recommended after a particularly hearty meal - a small glass will help you digest plentiful food faster.
You will need:
- 500 g of viburnum;
- 0.5 liters of vodka.
Sort out the berries. Small ones can be left on the brushes, large ones are best cut off by removing the stalks. Rinse the viburnum in several waters, then pat dry on a towel. Place the berries in a 2 liter bottle without tamping them. Pour vodka into the container. Close the bottle and place in a dark place for 3 weeks. Strain the finished tincture, bottle and seal tightly.
Collect viburnum after the first frost - the berries will acquire a more delicate taste and lose their bitterness.
Viburnum honey infusion
You can add honey to the tincture - it will give the drink a slight sweetness and a pleasant aftertaste.
You will need:
- 500 g of viburnum;
- 500 ml of vodka;
- 1 tablespoon of liquid honey.
Instead of vodka for tincture, you can use brandy, or purified moonshine.
Sort out the Kalina and rinse, then discard in a colander. Dry the berries on a towel and pour them into a 2 liter bottle. Put honey there, and then fill the viburnum with vodka. Close the bottle tightly and place in a dark place for 2 weeks. Shake the container from time to time.
After 2 weeks, strain the tincture and bottle it tightly. Store the drink in a dark place.
Viburnum and sea buckthorn tincture
Kalina can be mixed with another useful berry - sea buckthorn. Take the resulting tincture for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes, or serve as a digestive.
You will need:
- 3 kg of viburnum;
- 1 kg of sea buckthorn;
- 2 glasses of sugar;
- 2 liters of vodka.
Sort the sea buckthorn and viburnum, remove the litter and twigs. Rinse the berries, discard in a colander, and then pat dry on a clean towel. Pour the berries into pre-washed and dried jars. Pour vodka into containers and leave to infuse for 2 weeks.
Strain the liquid out of the jars and place in a dark place. Cover the berries with sugar, close the jars with lids, shake well and leave it for 2 weeks. Then drain the resulting syrup and mix it with alcohol tincture. Stir the finished drink, bottle and seal tightly. Store the tincture in a cool dark place.
