The remains of baby food can be the basis for tasty and healthy dishes: casseroles, cookies, pancakes. The grown-up kids will be happy to try such pastries, and their parents will also like it. Children's rice porridge dishes are distinguished by a very delicate texture and pleasant taste.
Sand cakes with strawberries
For the preparation of cakes, both dairy and dairy-free rice porridge are suitable. To make the baked goods richer in taste, complement them with sweet and sour thick jam, fresh or frozen berries. If you like less sweet pastries, do not add sugar to the dough, some of the sweetener is already contained in dry baby porridge.
You will need:
- 3 cups dry baby rice porridge;
- 200 g of butter;
- 2 eggs;
- 1 tbsp. a spoonful of sugar;
- 1 tsp baking powder;
- 2 tbsp. tablespoons of wheat flour;
- 0.25 cups sweet jam;
- 1 glass of freshly frozen strawberries.
- 1, 5 Art. spoons of starch;
- powdered sugar for sprinkling.
Mash eggs with sugar and softened butter. Add dry rice porridge and sifted flour mixed with baking powder. Knead into a soft, homogeneous dough. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour. Defrost the strawberries a little, sprinkle with 1 tbsp. spoon of starch and mix gently.
Divide the chilled dough into lumps, then roll each into a flat cake with sides. You can use shallow round molds by filling them with dough and smoothing them along the walls with your fingers. Grease the surface of the dough pieces with jam, lightly sprinkle with starch. Arrange the strawberries on top.
Place the items on a greased baking sheet. Place it in an oven preheated to 220 ° C and bake until golden brown. Remove the finished cakes from the baking sheet and chill on the board. Then sprinkle with icing sugar and serve.
