A pie is a filled dough dish that is baked or fried. They differ from each other in appearance, dough and, of course, in the variety of fillers. For a long time, cabbage pie was considered one of the most delicious in Russia, it was he who was the traditional treat of any holiday.

It is necessary

    • For filling:
    • 3 onions;
    • 500 g of cabbage;
    • vegetable oil;
    • 4 eggs;
    • 50 g poppy seeds;
    • salt;
    • ground black pepper.
    • For the test:
    • 300 g of milk;
    • 70 g sugar;
    • salt to taste;
    • 1 egg;
    • 500 g flour;
    • 1 bag of dry yeast;
    • 1, 5 Art. l of vegetable oil;
    • 100 g butter;
    • 1 yolk.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the pie filling. Chop the onion very finely, chop the cabbage into strips. Then fry the onions in a frying pan in a little vegetable oil until golden brown. Add cabbage to it and simmer until tender.

Step 2

In a small bowl, beat the eggs, pour them into the cabbage along with the steamed poppy seeds, mix everything well, salt and pepper. Add some hot water if necessary. Simmer for another five to seven minutes, covered, immediately remove the pan from the heat and let the filling cool.

While the filling is cooling, prepare the dough for the pie. Add sugar, salt, egg to warm milk and beat everything with a mixer. Mix the sifted flour with dry yeast, carefully add to the milk and mix thoroughly.

Step 4

When a homogeneous mass is obtained, add the vegetable oil and melted warm butter. Now knead the dough well and leave it in a warm place for 30-40 minutes to come up.

Step 5

Then divide the dough in half and roll out two layers no more than one centimeter thick. Take a deep baking sheet greased with vegetable oil and sprinkled with flour, place one of the dough sheets on it and gently straighten.

Step 6

Put the cooled filling on the dough in an even layer and close it on top with a second layer, pinching the edges tightly. In the middle of the top layer, make a small round hole for steam to escape from the filling while baking the pie.

Step 7

Brush the cake with whipped yolk and leave to rest for 10 minutes. After that, put in an oven preheated to 180-200 ° C and bake for 30-40 minutes. When the cake is lightly browned, be sure to reduce the heat.

Step 8

Remove the finished cake from the oven, brush with butter, cool, cut into pieces and serve with milk.
