4 pears, 250 milliliters of dry red wine, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 orange, 2 cinnamon sticks, 2 cloves, nutmeg and vanillin on the tip of a knife

Peel the pears, cut in half and core.

Heat the wine, add sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, vanillin and, stirring occasionally, bring to a boil.

Squeeze the juice out of their orange. Add orange juice and pears to the wine. Reduce heat to low.

Cook the pears for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove the pears and place them on a flat plate or shallow bowl.
