Useful properties of vodka on pine nuts
Alcoholic tinctures on the fruits of cedar were used many centuries ago by the indigenous people of Siberia to treat colds and lung diseases. They rubbed the body with them, they were taken inside with hot drinks, they made lotions and infusions.
There are legends about the effectiveness of such treatment; in the diaries and records of royal persons there are references to this drug. Later scientific works mention the beneficial properties of cedar tincture in the treatment of cancer, joint problems and even gynecological diseases, such as uterine fibroids.
How to make cedar tincture
For the preparation of the tincture, whole nuts are used, only their kernels or shells. There are many recipes, according to some, nuts or their parts need to be chopped, but in most cases, it is the whole nuts that are used. Before use, they must be prepared - rinse thoroughly with running water, remove the hollow shells, rinse with boiling water 2-3 times and dry. This removes tar from the shell surface, which can impart unpleasant bitterness to the drink.
After these manipulations, the nuts need to be poured with vodka in a bulky dish and placed in a dark place with a temperature below room temperature, but in no case in the refrigerator. The drink will be ready to drink in 30 days. Shake the contents thoroughly daily, but it is not recommended to open the lid. The generally accepted recipe assumes the following proportions: for one glass of nuts with a volume of 200 ml, 1.5-2 liters of vodka with a strength of no more than 40º are taken.
According to an older recipe, a container of dark material with a volume of half a liter is covered with peeled nuts and poured to the top with the so-called pervach - a very strong moonshine. Such a drink will be ready in 10 days and has a richer taste, but much lighter in color. Many recipes involve the addition of various herbs, honey or sugar, mint roots, cinnamon and even vanilla to taste.
The shelf life of the tincture prepared according to any recipe is not limited by the time frame. The taste of the drink resembles cognac, as well as the color, the aftertaste is oak. The course of treatment, as a rule, is at least a month. But it is not recommended to use cedar tincture without consulting your doctor.
