A juniper berry drink called gin is very strong, so they drink it in one gulp. To weaken the burning aftertaste, you can eat it, but it is strongly not recommended to drink it. Gin is served in small, thick-bottomed glasses, and tall, straight glasses are used for cocktails. Gin is chilled before serving. It is not often drunk as a standalone drink, as its mild aroma goes well with various ingredients in cocktails.

Gin is produced in many countries of the world, but despite this, its choice is small, and is limited to two types: Dutch and London dry. Each of them is good in its own way, the peculiarity lies in the fact that dry much longer allows you to stay in a state of intoxication. For this, probably, the reason is practically not used Dutch gin either for making cocktails or in cooking. Dry London gin is much more popular, especially such high-end brands as Beefeater, Boodles, Gordons Dry Gin. Russian samples are not inferior to foreign counterparts in taste, gin was produced even during the Soviet era.

To improve the quality of the drink, it is subjected to double distillation, followed by the most important process: straining. This stage is responsible and important because here it is necessary to correctly capture exactly that optimal moment when the alcohol content in the drink drops to 37-57 degrees. An indicator of the quality of gin is the aromatic additives contained in it, namely, their quantity. Real gin differs in that it contains at least four additives; in some cases, their number can reach a dozen. After vodka, gin takes its solid second place among white spirits, such a picture is observed in most countries.

Gin became famous in Russia thanks to various cocktails, and despite this, quite recently it was very rare to find it in the store, along with vermouth, tequila and rum. Currently, the situation has changed and you can not only find all these drinks not far from home, but also choose the one you like the most from several brands. Widespread and popular because of its excellent quality gin "Gordons", Italian production. Gilbase, produced since 1872 according to the same recipe, is not far behind it, but it is little known in Russia. The most exported gin can rightfully be considered "Beefeater", produced in London.
