Bell pepper is an incredibly juicy, tasty and healthy vegetable. It can be an indispensable ingredient in many salads or hot dishes. Or it can be used independently, saturating the body with vitamins. How to store green bell peppers?
Instructions
Step 1
Please note that there are two types of bell pepper maturity - technical and biological. It is the fruits of technical maturity, i.e. greenish, unripe, harvested for storage. Brightly colored specimens (yellow, red, orange) are fully ripe peppers that should be eaten immediately, because it deteriorates quickly enough.
Step 2
If you grow bell peppers yourself, then collect specimens that have reached technical maturity from your garden plot without separating the stalks. Because otherwise, vegetables are quickly attacked by various diseases and start to deteriorate. To prevent the fruit from drying out, immediately cover it with a damp towel or burlap.
Step 3
When buying peppers to stock up for a while, choose undamaged juicy fruits. Be sure to pay attention to the presence of stalks.
Step 4
Wipe the peppers dry and carefully place them in small boxes or thick plastic bags, pre-piercing holes in them for aeration. Place the container with vegetables in a well-ventilated room with an air temperature of 0-2 degrees or in a refrigerator. In such conditions, the fruits are stored for up to 30 days.
Step 5
Whenever you need peppers, take out the right amount of vegetables and place them in a well-lit area. Soon you will receive the fruit of the biological degree of ripeness.
Step 6
You can store pepper in another way. When the fruits on the bushes have reached the required (technical) maturity, pull out the bushes together with the root, spray with a 1% solution of copper sulfate and hang them upside down on the insulated balcony or veranda. In this state, the pepper can be stored for quite a long time.
