With proper garment care, polyester garments may not be ironed at all. Proper care primarily means washing without deforming the garment. Polyester must be washed at a water temperature not exceeding 40 °, by hand or in a washing machine. The hotter water creates wrinkles and folds on the material that need to be removed.
It is necessary
- - iron;
- - gauze or cotton cloth;
- - water.
Instructions
Step 1
Use a regulating iron to tidy up wrinkled polyester. Among modern irons, it is very difficult to find one that cannot be set to the desired temperature. But since old primitive irons practically do not fail, it is likely that you also have one, and even someone from home uses it. An antique iron is useful in this case, but not very convenient.
Step 2
Dip the product in a bowl of cold water. Let it dry a little. Remember that polyester dries very quickly. The fabric should remain slightly damp. If the item is relatively new, you may well have the shred that came with it. It makes sense to save such patches, because experiments can be carried out on them without fear of damaging the item of clothing. In this case, you need to experiment a little with the temperature of the iron. It should be slightly higher than what you would normally iron synthetic fabrics.
Step 3
Set the same temperature for wrinkled polyester as for silk. With this position of the regulator, you can iron quite calmly, without fear that the fabric will melt. However, at this temperature, the creases may not be smoothed out. Turn the knob slightly. Try ironing the shred. If not, then iron some inconspicuous place on the product itself. This can be, for example, a hem, the inner part of the cuff, or the bottom of a turn-down collar. As a rule, folds are smoothed out perfectly at a slightly higher temperature than usual. It is recommended to iron through a thin fabric such as gauze.
Step 4
The need to iron the product can also arise if you want it to look particularly elegant. For example, you are going to a ball. Clothes that are perfectly ironed not only look good, but also create a mood. You don't need to use any special tricks. Set the regulator to silk mode and iron the garment through a layer of gauze.
Step 5
If you still have an antique iron at your disposal, then you will have to iron it in the grandmother's way. Heat the iron Try it on a shred and turn it off. It does not cool down very quickly, so you will have time to iron a synthetic product. Iron it right over the cotton cloth.
