The benefits of apples for the human body, especially a fragile child, cannot be disputed. I would like these fruits to always take pride of place on the table of loved ones. And not only in summer, but also in winter, when it is necessary to consume even more vitamins and minerals. You can go to the nearest store and buy the apples offered there. And you can take care of the enrichment of the winter diet yourself, keeping the apple harvest until next spring. This can be done not only on the garden plot, but also in a city apartment.

It is necessary

  • - apples;
  • - glycerin or liquid paraffin;
  • - food or tissue paper;
  • - iodinol;
  • - water;
  • - wooden boxes;
  • - sand, fine shavings, sawdust or peat chips;
  • - plastic bags;
  • - dense bags.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare your apples. For storage, select undamaged fruits, without wormholes, dark spots and crumpled sides, preferably with a stalk.

Step 2

Wipe the apples with a soft cloth, after soaking it in glycerin or liquid paraffin. Or wrap it in thin food grade paper, one at a time. You can also dilute the iodinol with water and put the apples in there for 10 minutes. Then, without wiping, let dry.

Step 3

The first way

Prepare a storage room for your crops. It should be dark and well ventilated. Optimum storage humidity is 90%. The temperature most suitable for long-term preservation of apples ranges from -1 to +1 degrees (depending on the type of fruit).

Step 4

Cover the bottom of a wooden box with high end strips with sand or sawdust. You can also use peat chips. Any of the listed materials must be well dried, otherwise the apples can rot.

Step 5

Place the apples in a container in 1-2 layers, sprinkling with the material of your choice.

Step 6

Stack the boxes one on top of the other. If possible, place them next to potatoes, which will give the apples excess moisture. Thus, you will solve two problems - when stored together, apples will not wrinkle, and potatoes will not sprout.

Step 7

Check apples every 10-14 days, removing those that start to spoil.

Step 8

Second way

Cut on one side of the plastic bag, about the middle, an oblong hole about 6-8 cm long. Fold the prepared apples into a bag, half full. Tie and store in a dark place that does not freeze (pantry, warm garage, kitchen cabinet).

Step 9

Third way

Place apples in bags, tie. Dig a hole about 70-80 cm deep. Put juniper branches on the bottom, put bags on them. Cover with earth. Insulate the top with straw or dry leaves. Mark the site with a milestone to facilitate further fruit retrieval.
