Cabbage rolls are a delicious and light dish that you are not ashamed to treat to the most dear guests. Usually they are prepared with meat filling, but you can put them in them and simply with rice and vegetables.
It is necessary
-
- white cabbage - 2 kg;
- minced meat - 500 g;
- rice - 100 g;
- carrots - 2 pcs;
- onions - 2 pcs;
- vegetable oil - 150 ml;
- tomato paste - 100 g;
- parsley;
- salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the cabbage leaves. Cut as many stalks out of the head as possible to facilitate the separation of the leaves. Then dip the head of cabbage in boiling, lightly salted water.
Step 2
Once the leaves are softer, carefully cut each one off the base and remove from the water. The main rule in this case is not to digest, otherwise they will become watery in consistency and not at all tasty.
Step 3
If the vein in the middle of the leaf is very hard, cut it off the inside with a knife, taking care not to damage the leaf. This will make it easier to roll the cabbage rolls and make them softer.
Step 4
Make the filling. Boil the rice until half cooked in salted water, mix it with the minced meat and add salt and pepper there to taste.
Step 5
Fry the sliced onions and carrots in a skillet. When they turn golden brown, add a little tomato paste and dilute with water. Boil the fry for 5 minutes and turn it off.
Step 6
Wrap the minced meat in cabbage leaves. Place a small amount of filling across the sheet, as close to the base as possible. Gently fold the base of the sheet, then both sides, and then fold it across.
Step 7
Preheat a deep skillet, pour some vegetable oil into it and lay out the rolled cabbage rolls. Cook them for 3 minutes on each side.
Step 8
Place the cabbage rolls in a saucepan, add the toasted vegetable mass and cover everything with water. There should be enough of it to cover the stuffed cabbage, but not more.
Step 9
Bring the cabbage rolls to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Place them in bowls, garnish with chopped parsley on top and serve with sour cream.
Step 10
Grape leaves will help add spice to stuffed cabbage rolls. You do not need to boil them, just wash them thoroughly, wrap the minced meat in them and cook as described above. Stuffed cabbage rolls will turn out no worse.
