Many housewives have tried baking chicken in the oven, and for some, such a dish is even a signature one in honor of some holiday. And this is true, because it has many advantages - it is budgetary, has a spectacular appearance, and technically it is not so difficult. But getting a crispy crust from a chicken is far from always possible. How should a bird be cooked so that it is not only tasty and juicy, but also looks appetizing on the outside?

It is necessary

  • - chicken carcass - about 2 kg;
  • - potatoes - 3-4 pcs.;
  • - lemon - 0.5 pcs.;
  • - honey - 1 tbsp. l.;
  • - sunflower oil - 1 tbsp. l.;
  • - garlic - 2 cloves;
  • - ground black pepper - 1 tsp;
  • - red hot pepper - 2-3 pinches;
  • - salt;
  • - a baking sheet or baking dish.

Instructions

Step 1

Rinse the chicken carcass under running water and dry thoroughly with kitchen or paper towels. After that, lay it on a cutting board and cut along the breast, turn it out so that it takes a flat shape. It can also be slightly beaten off with a meat hammer.

Step 2

Peel the garlic cloves and crush them through a press (or you can grate them). In a separate small bowl, combine chopped garlic, salt, black and red peppers. Now rub the outside and inside of the chicken with the mixture.

Step 3

Now, in the same bowl, pour in the sunflower oil and lemon juice, which you want to squeeze from half of the lemon. Add honey and mix everything thoroughly until smooth.

Step 4

Then take a baking sheet (baking dish) and place the carcass on top of it. Spread the abdomen with half the honey-oil mass, and then turn the chicken over and distribute the remaining mass over the back, legs and wings (for convenience, you can use a culinary silicone brush). Leave the workpiece to soak for 10-15 minutes.

Step 5

Meanwhile, peel the potatoes, rinse and chop into medium-sized wedges or circles. Arrange them around the chicken, salt and sprinkle with black pepper so that all the fat and juice does not burn on the baking sheet, but soak the potatoes.

Step 6

Turn on the oven and set the temperature to 200 degrees. When it's warm enough, send the chicken baking sheet to bake for 1 hour. During this time, remove the baking sheet a couple of times and pour the juice over the carcass. If you want crisp on both sides, flip the chicken once too.

Step 7

When the chicken is done, transfer to a large platter, top with potatoes and serve whole with vegetable salad, tomato-garlic sauce and fresh herbs.
