Roast is a hearty dish and, as a hot appetizer, is suitable for dinner and a festive feast. There are a lot of recipes for cooking roasts, but the most delicious and traditional recipe is roast in pots with a creamy sour cream sauce.
Roast in pots, I mean its classic version with pork and potatoes, is a delicious dish. When cooked in the oven, it becomes more delicate and refined, with new rich flavors.
The most delicious roast recipe
The ingredients are sized for 4 servings. As with other dishes, the quality of the ingredients is also determining here. For roasts, this is, first of all, freshness and the right choice of meat.
- 1 kg of pork (ideally, the loin will go for roast, but the ham will also be good, especially its sirloin);
- 1.2 kg of potatoes (for hot potatoes, usually 20-25% more is taken than meat);
- 3 medium onion heads;
- ground pepper to taste.
- 150 g sour cream;
- 70-100 g of butter (depending on what you will fry the onion on: together with meat in its fat or separately).
All of the ingredients listed are for Classic or Basic. Numerous variations include carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, and a host of other spices. The flavor of this dish will depend on the addition of other ingredients.
Roast cooking process
First, fry the sliced pork in your own fat. The frying process requires high heat and constant stirring until golden brown.
When frying meat in its own fat and over high heat, a saturated liquid is released, which should be poured into the pots for further addition. Without this liquid, the meat will fry faster and better on its own fat.
With meat, you can cook onion cut into half rings. Next, fry the potatoes separately in butter. Here also until the crust appears. Add salt and pepper separately to each ingredient when they are ready.
For stewing in the oven (stove), you must take tight-fitting ceramic pots. Then you should put potatoes in them, then meat and at the end onions (vegetables). Then add juice or broth (in extreme cases, hot water) isolated from the meat during frying - at the rate of 30-50 g per pot. Pour all this with sour cream (in its absence, you can put butter) and put the pots in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Everything, the dish is ready! Such food is suitable both for an everyday family dinner and for a festive feast, and both adults and children will like this dish.
