Chak-chak is a traditional dish of the Tatar and Bashkir cuisine. In terms of composition and preparation, it is somewhat reminiscent of our brushwood, only finely chopped and drenched in honey. There are many recipes for preparing this dish: with the addition of milk, butter and vodka to the dough, with nuts and dried fruits, in the form of nuts and noodles. I bring to your attention the most simplified version with a minimum of ingredients. The taste of the dish from this is in no way inferior to analogues.

We will need:

- For the dough: 2-3 eggs, 1-2 cups flour, a pinch of salt;

- For filling: honey 3-5 tbsp. spoons or 0.5 cans of condensed milk;

- For frying: sunflower oil.

Chak-chak recipe:

1. Beat eggs and salt with a whisk.

2. Add flour and knead not very tough dough. The dough should be like dumplings or homemade noodles. Leave the dough to lie under a towel for 30 minutes.

3. Roll out a thin cake from a small piece. It should turn out to be 2-3 mm thick so that the drawing on the table shines through. The thinner you roll out the dough, the crisper the Chak-Chak sticks will be.

4. First we cut the cake into strips, like into noodles. A pizza cutter is ideal for this. If there is no such knife, then a regular sharp knife will do. Then we cut the noodles into 4-5 cm long bars.

5. Separate the bars from the table and put them on a floured board or table so that they do not stick together.

6. Heat the oil in a frying pan. It is better to take a pan with a large diameter, then it will be possible to fry more noodles at a time. Pour the dough into butter in small portions and fry for 2-3 minutes while stirring until golden brown.

7. We take out our sticks with a slotted spoon and put them in a deep dish.

8. Heat the honey in a water bath to a liquid state. It is usually brewed with sugar, but I only use honey in my recipe. It's faster and tastier.

9. Pour honey on the sticks and mix with your hands. Then we transfer the mass to a deep plate or lay it out with a slide on a flat one. Pour honey on top again.

10. The dish is ready. You need to put it in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours. In this case, the honey will saturate the sticks and harden.

To prepare Chak-Chak with condensed milk, you also need to fry the sticks, and then pour them with condensed milk (room temperature). Stir, put on a dish and refrigerate as well.

You can eat with a spoon or with your hands, separating one stick at a time. Bon Appetit!
