Oven-baked chops are a delicious and satisfying dish. Although this recipe can be cooked in a pan, the chops are juicier in the oven, and the cheese crust on the meat crunches pleasantly.
Chops are one of the most popular meat dishes, which are mainly made from pork. Chops are known all over the world; in many countries, bread crumbs and chicken eggs are used for their preparation. In Russia, the most common chops are covered with a cheese crust, under which can often be chopped onions, a slice of tomato, and mushrooms. The dish can be cooked in a pan or in the oven.
Other delicious dishes are also prepared from pork, such as boiled pork, jelly, barbecue, schnitzel, escalope. A large amount of pork is processed into various smoked meats: brisket, bacon, various sausages.
To prepare chops baked in the oven, you will need: 800 g of pork, 70 g of hard cheese, 1 onion, mayonnaise, ground black pepper, vegetable oil, salt.
To prepare the chops, prepare the meat first. Take the pork and rinse it under warm running water, pat it dry and place it on a cutting board. Cut the meat into 4-5 portions. If there is a fat layer on the meat, it must be carefully cut off. Cover the sliced pork with cling film, use a hammer and beat off the meat pieces. Then remove the film from the pork, sprinkle each piece with salt and black pepper on both sides. You can use other spices and seasonings to make chops. Put the seasoned meat on a separate plate.
Remember that there should be a separate board for butchering raw meat in your kitchen, as well as for fish. It is best if it is plastic, not wood, as wood can absorb unwanted substances.
Take onions and peel them. After that, rinse the onion under cold running water, pat dry with a kitchen towel or paper napkins and cut into half rings. Leave the chopped onion on a cutting board. Grate hard cheese on a coarse grater.
Cover the baking sheet with foil and grease its surface with a little vegetable oil. Place the pork chops on a baking sheet. Place onion rings on each piece, and then brush them with mayonnaise. Sprinkle the grated cheese on the pork. The meat will be even more juicy if you cook it on an onion pillow.
Preheat oven to 175 ° C and place a baking sheet of pork chops in it. Bake the meat dish for 30-35 minutes. During this time, the pork will cook well and will absorb the onion juice, which will make it aromatic. The cheese shavings will melt and coat the meat with an appetizing golden crust.
Remove the finished dish from the oven and let it cool slightly for 3-4 minutes. Using a wooden spatula, carefully remove the meat from the foil and place on serving bowls.
The chops baked in the oven are ready. You can serve the dish with baked or boiled potatoes, mashed potatoes, buckwheat, rice or pasta. Stewed vegetables are an excellent side dish for pork chops.
