Preparing trout products

To prepare the dish, you will need the following ingredients: trout steaks, 4-5 onions, lemon, salt, vegetable oil, dry oregano, fresh dill and parsley.

Oven baked trout with pickled onions and lemon wedges will become a real decoration of the festive table. To make the dish as tasty as possible, it is recommended to use not frozen, but chilled Norwegian trout. Frozen fish should be thawed gradually.

If a whole piece of fish is used, it must be cut into steaks, about 2 cm thick. First, the fish is cleaned of scales and the rib bones are carefully removed by cutting them with kitchen scissors. The spine can be left as it holds the steak in shape.

The onions are peeled and cut into quarters. Each quarter is thinly chopped. Then the chopped onion is lightly salted to release moisture and sprinkled with fresh lemon juice.

Trout steaks are also sprinkled with a little salt and dry oregano. In a separate bowl, mix a couple of tablespoons of vegetable oil and the juice of half a lemon. The resulting sauce is smeared with pieces of trout. It is believed that the baking dish should not be greased with vegetable oil, as a sufficient amount of fat is released from the fish during the heat treatment.

Part of the pickled onions is spread on the bottom of the mold, creating a fairly dense pillow. Then carefully place the trout steaks and sprinkle the fish with the remaining onions on top. If you add a bunch of parsley, cilantro or fresh dill to the dish, the dish will turn out to be especially fragrant.

The oven is heated to 180-200 ° C. The trout mold is set to the middle level. The trout should be in the oven for about 20-25 minutes. After that, remove the mold and once again grease the surface of the steaks with a sauce made from vegetable oil and lemon juice. Then the fish is sent to the oven for another 5-10 minutes. In this case, a very beautiful ruddy crust forms on the steaks, giving the fish an incredibly appetizing look.

The finished fish is taken out of the oven and transferred to a beautiful dish, garnished with chopped herbs and thin slices of lemon. The best side dish for fish will be boiled potatoes and fresh tomatoes.
