Hallumi is a delicious hard white cheese made from sheep's or goat's milk (less often from cow's). Halloumi is very popular in Cypriot cuisine and can be used to make all kinds of interesting snacks. This cheese is convenient to cut into slices and is suitable for pan-frying or grilling. Fried halloumi cheese with figs is a Cypriot hot appetizer.
It is necessary
- For four servings:
- - 8 fresh figs;
- - 300 g of halloumi cheese;
- - 1 fresh red chili pepper;
- 1/4 cup wine vinegar
- - 3 cloves of garlic;
- - a mixture of lettuce leaves;
- - cilantro, olive oil.
Instructions
Step 1
Haloumi cut into slices 5 mm thick, cut each fig in half.
Step 2
Place the cheese and figs in a preheated non-stick skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side.
Step 3
Transfer the fig halloumi to a plate lined with the lettuce mixture.
Step 4
Pour vinegar into a frying pan, add heat. Toss in a pinch of cilantro leaves, add finely chopped seedless chili and crushed garlic cloves.
Step 5
Cook the sauce until the liquid has evaporated by three quarters.
Step 6
Pour the resulting aromatic sauce over the cheese and figs. Drizzle with a little olive oil and serve hot.
