If you like fish, then try to cook it in an unusual way, namely in a sweet and sour marinade. The uniqueness of this method is that, unlike meat, the fish is first fried and then saturated with sauce. The onion, which is marinated with the fish, is also soaked and gives the dish an amazing barbecue flavor.

It is necessary

  • - boneless fish (for example, cod, hake, pollock, you can take it frozen) - 1200 g;
  • - large onion sets (white) - 2 pcs.;
  • - flour - 100 g;
  • - sunflower oil - 350 ml;
  • - water - 220 ml;
  • - tomatoes in their own juice - 1 can (400-500 g);
  • - tomato paste - 1 tbsp. l. with a slide;
  • - sugar - 180 g;
  • - apple cider vinegar (you can replace it with 9% wine) - 90 ml;
  • - bay leaf - 2 pcs.;
  • - salt - 1 tsp. with a slide;
  • - submersible blender;
  • - frying pan, saucepan.

Instructions

Step 1

Defrost fish carcasses naturally at room temperature or leave overnight on the top shelf of the refrigerator. Rinse them in running water and dry them before cooking. Then cut into thin pieces (no more than 1.5 cm thick).

Step 2

Now take a frying pan and heat it up. Pour in 100 ml of sunflower oil and heat. Pour the flour into a plate and roll the fish pieces in it. Then set the temperature to medium, place the fish in the pan and fry on both sides until golden brown. If all the fish cannot fit in one go, then fry it in two stages. Transfer the finished pieces from the pan to a plate or dish.

Step 3

After the fish is cooked, remove the first layer of husk from the white onion and chop it into quarter-rings. Now we start preparing for pickling. Take a saucepan and place the pieces of fried fish in one layer on the bottom. Sprinkle them liberally with onions. Spread the next layer of fish on top and cover again with onions. This way, fill the entire pot until the ingredients run out.

Step 4

To prepare the marinade in a separate bowl, combine cold water, tomatoes in their own juice, tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt and the remaining sunflower oil. Mix the resulting mass with an immersion blender until smooth.

Step 5

Now pour this marinade over the fish and onion pieces and add the bay leaf. After that, put the workpiece in the refrigerator for 4-5 hours so that the fish with the onion is well marinated.

Step 6

After the time has elapsed, the finished dish can be reheated and divided into portions. As a side dish, boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes, as well as rice, are best suited to it.
