In this everyday dish, made from fairly ordinary products, the marinade adds some "zest", the taste of which goes well with chicken. During the cooking process, you can turn it into a savory sauce or make a nice caramel crust.
It is necessary
- (for 4 servings)
- - 700 g chicken breast (boneless);
- - 1 clove of garlic;
- - onion;
- - ¼ tsp turmeric or prepared chicken seasoning;
- - a few sprigs of absolutely fresh green basil;
- - ½ tsp honey;
- - 2 tangerines;
- - vinegar or lemon juice (to taste);
- - 1 tsp Sahara;
- - 1 tsp soy sauce;
- - 200-240 g of rice;
- - 200 g broccoli;
- - salt (to taste);
- - vegetable oil for frying (unrefined sunflower or olive oil).
Instructions
Step 1
Peel the garlic, cut in half, crush with a knife and chop very finely. Peel the onion, cut into thin half rings. Rinse the chicken breast, drain. Cut into small pieces. Salt, pepper, add seasoning. Transfer to a food bag, put the garlic and onion in the same place, pour in a teaspoon of lemon juice, tie and mix gently. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
Step 2
Wash basil, drain, chop finely. Heat about 110 ml of water in a small saucepan, add sugar, stir, bring to a boil. Add the basil and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes.
Step 3
Remove from heat and strain through a sieve. Squeeze tangerine juice into the resulting syrup, add honey and soy sauce, stir. Add a few drops of vinegar or lemon juice as needed for a sweet and sour taste.
Step 4
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and add the marinated meat. Fry over fairly high heat for 3 minutes with occasional stirring. Reduce heat to minimum, cover (but not completely) and simmer for about 20-25 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces.
Step 5
While the meat is cooking, rinse the rice well several times (so that the water becomes clear) and put to cook. The result should be a dry and crumbly side dish.
Rinse the broccoli, cut into portions and cook in a little water (about 10 minutes), or even better in a double boiler (about 15 minutes).
Step 6
Pour the previously prepared sauce over the chicken breast, increase the heat and fry with constant stirring for a few minutes. Determine the end time of the process yourself: if you want to get meat with sauce, then 2-3 minutes is enough; if you want a caramel-colored crust to form on the pieces, then the heat treatment time must be increased.
Step 7
Place the rice and broccoli in bowls. Put the meat on top, pour over the rest of the sauce. Decorate the dish as you wish. Additionally, you can serve fresh vegetables - cucumbers, tomatoes.
