Sweet and sour chicken can often be found in Asian restaurants. This dish, popular in Asian countries, is very tasty, light and at the same time satisfying. In addition, the dish is quite simple to prepare, despite its exoticism. It does not require fancy and expensive products. Even an inexperienced chef can cook it. The main thing is to carefully study the recipe and not deviate from it during the cooking process.

It is necessary

    • chicken fillet - 300g
    • vegetable oil - 50g
    • medium carrots - 2 pieces
    • sweet pepper - 2 pcs.
    • bow - 1 head
    • garlic - 3 cloves
    • starch - 1 tbsp. the spoon
    • soy sauce - 4-5 tbsp spoons
    • apple or wine vinegar - 1 tbsp. the spoon
    • honey - 2 tbsp. spoons
    • tomato paste - 2 tbsp spoons
    • ground red pepper - 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

Step 1

Cut the chicken fillet into small walnut-sized pieces and place in a deep bowl. If you are a spicy lover, rub the chicken pieces with a little red pepper. Pour in 2/3 of the soy sauce, stir and marinate for 8-10 minutes.

Step 2

Cut the peeled bell peppers into small cubes. Use different colored peppers such as green and red. The dish will turn out prettier. Cut the carrots into thin slices and the onions into half rings. Chop the garlic finely on a separate board.

Step 3

Prepare the sauce - Thoroughly stir the vinegar, honey, tomato paste and leftover soy sauce. If the honey is very thick, you can slightly warm it up. The sauce should resemble liquid sour cream in consistency. If you want the dish to be more sour, add a little more vinegar. If you prefer a sweet taste, increase the amount of honey by one or two scoops.

Step 4

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet and add chicken. Fry over high heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring constantly. Then add the onions, carrots and peppers to the pan in turn. Stir thoroughly after each added serving of vegetables. Fry vegetables with chicken for about 5-7 minutes. Make sure that the fire is always at maximum!

Step 5

Pour the pre-cooked sauce into the pan, mix thoroughly. The mixture should take on a pleasant brownish-golden color.

Step 6

Dissolve the starch in 50 ml of cold water and pour over the chicken and vegetable mixture. Stir quickly and vigorously and remove from heat. Add chopped garlic. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.

Step 7

Serve plain white rice as a side dish. The dish will acquire a classic completeness. But you can experiment and use spaghetti or boiled potatoes as a side dish.
