Lavash is a traditional flatbread of the peoples of the Caucasus and the Middle East, known for its versatility. Many people use it as a base for delicious meals. And although it is impossible to create all the necessary conditions for baking lavash in a modern kitchen, the simplicity of the process of its preparation contributes to the achievement of amazing results.
It is necessary
-
- flour - 3-3, 5 cups;
- dry yeast - 2 tsp;
- salt - 1 tsp;
- sugar - 1 tsp;
- warm water - 1-1, 5 glasses;
- vegetable oil - 1 tsp.
Instructions
Step 1
Sift the flour into a bowl and then mix it with dry yeast, sugar and salt. Make a depression in the center and gradually pour warm water into it. Knead a soft and firm dough, using a fork to gradually add flour from the edges of the hole to the center.
Step 2
Flour the board and knead the dough on it until it stops sticking to the board and hands. Then brush it with vegetable oil and put it in a plastic bag. Leave for 1.5 hours at room temperature. Crumple the dough that has come up, divide into the desired number of pieces (depending on the expected size of the pita bread) and form into balls. Roll out all the dough pieces into 2mm thick layers and cover with a towel.
Step 3
Heat the skillet to maximum heat. Spread the dough out and fry on each side for 20-30 seconds without adding oil. After baking, sprinkle the pita bread lightly with cold water. Once the cake has cooled, place it in a bag.
Step 4
Use a baking sheet to make a large toasted pita bread. To do this, turn on several burners at the same time, heat the baking sheet and bake.
Step 5
You can cook pita bread in the oven. Turn the oven to the grill setting and heat the baking sheet inside well. Then lay out the rolled dough and bake for 1, 5-2 minutes (a little less than a minute on each side).
