Thin pita bread is an excellent base for hot and cold snacks, pies and other dishes. By changing the fillings and cooking method, you can significantly diversify the menu. Unleavened lavash goes well with cheese, meat, fish, herbs and vegetables; it is easy to make unusual desserts from it.
Snack roll
Thin yeast-free pita bread is an excellent base for a variety of snacks. The roll can be cut into pieces, strung on skewers and served on a buffet or banquet table. It is easy to replace salmon with chum salmon, sockeye salmon, trout, other smoked or slightly salted fish.
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of pita bread;
- 150 g cold smoked salmon;
- 150 g of curd cheese;
- 2 tbsp. l. chopped parsley;
- ground black pepper.
Spread a sheet of pita bread on the table, spread with soft curd cheese and sprinkle with finely chopped parsley. Spread thin slices of salmon on top, pepper to taste. Roll the pita bread into a roll, cut into pieces with a sharp knife, put them on a plate. Keep the appetizer in the refrigerator until serving.
Lavash pie
Delicious snack option with soft cheese or feta cheese. When interacting with a fermented milk product, lavash swells, the baked goods are very tender. According to this recipe, you can also make a dessert pie with cottage cheese, fresh berries, and jam.
Ingredients:
- 4 sheets of thin pita bread;
- 0.5 liters of low-fat kefir;
- 2 eggs;
- 100 g of granular cottage cheese;
- 150 g feta cheese;
- 1, 5 Art. l. butter;
- salt, freshly ground black pepper.
Grease a refractory mold with oil, put 2 sheets of pita bread in it so that the edges hang outward. Tear the remaining sheets into pieces. Beat eggs with kefir and a pinch of salt in a separate container. Pieces of pita bread are alternately dipped into the kefir mixture and put in a mold, sprinkling with a mixture of cottage cheese and grated feta cheese. Pepper to taste.
Cover the pie with the hanging edges of the pita bread, pour the remaining egg-kefir mixture. Spread small pieces of butter over the surface. Put the dish in the oven, preheated to 200 degrees. When a nice golden crust is formed, remove the cake from the oven and cut straight into the tin. Serve hot or warm.
Homemade quesadilla
Thin Armenian lavash makes an appetizing Mexican-style dish. It is served hot, along with fresh sour cream and hot salsa. The easiest option is quesadilla with cheese, but a similar dish can be prepared with other ingredients: minced meat, ham, various vegetables and herbs.
Ingredients:
- 2 sheets of thin pita bread;
- 200 g of hard cheese;
- 2 ripe tomatoes.
Grate the cheese, cut the tomatoes into thin slices. Spread the pita bread on the table, put a layer of cheese on one side of each sheet, spread the tomato circles on top. Fold the sheets in half, heat in a dry frying pan so that the cheese melts and the surface of the cakes becomes dry and crispy. Cut each piece in half, place on a plate in pairs, serve with cold sour cream and salsa.
