Baklava is a traditional oriental sweet. Many fell in love with her while traveling. But in order to taste such a treat, it is not necessary to go somewhere again. Baklava can be baked at home, spending only 30 minutes for preparation and 45 minutes for baking, because the most common, quick and simple cooking option is to make it from ready-made puff pastry.

It is necessary

  • - ready-made puff pastry - 700 g;
  • - large chicken egg - 1 pc.;
  • - butter - 30 g;
  • - ground cinnamon - 1 tbsp. l.;
  • - granulated sugar - 5 tbsp. l.;
  • - icing sugar - 1 tbsp. l.;
  • - seedless raisins (it is better to take a dark one) - 100 g;
  • - shelled walnuts - 2 cups;
  • - liquid honey - 200 ml;
  • - water - 80 ml;
  • - parchment paper;
  • - baking sheet.

Instructions

Step 1

Remove the puff pastry from the freezer and the butter from the refrigerator before cooking. Leave them at room temperature to defrost the dough and soften the butter.

Step 2

Grind walnuts and raisins with a blender or in another convenient way. At the same time, leave a small handful of kernels of nuts - they will be needed later for decoration. Add ground cinnamon and powdered sugar to the resulting mixture. Mix everything together well.

Step 3

Prepare your work surface and lightly dust it with flour. Divide the thawed dough into 10 equal parts and roll each in the form of a layer.

Step 4

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and grease it with any oil. Take two finished rolled layers and lay them one on top of the other. Grease the top with butter and put some of the filling on it. Cover the top with the next layer, which also needs to be greased and covered with filling. Continue to stack the oiled filled slabs one by one.

Step 5

After the last layer of dough has been laid, break the egg, separating the white from the yolk. Cover the top with whipped yolk. After that, right on the baking sheet, cut the product into squares or in the shape of rhombuses and decorate evenly with the remaining walnut kernels.

Step 6

Turn on the oven and set the temperature to 180 degrees. When it's warmed up, place the baking sheet in it and bake the baklava for 45 minutes.

Step 7

In the meantime, let's prepare the fill. In a saucepan or ladle, combine the water and granulated sugar and bring to a boil. Then lower the temperature to a moderate value and cook the syrup for 5 minutes. Then add liquid honey and, stirring occasionally, cook for another 7 minutes.

Step 8

When the baklava is baked, remove it from the oven, transfer it to a tray and cover with honey syrup. After that, a delicious oriental delicacy should be soaked for several hours, and then it can be served with tea.
