If you have bread that dries up and can no longer be used for sandwiches, do not rush to part with it. After all, you can make delicious and very fragrant croutons from it! Many people specifically buy ready-made products in stores to add them to soup, make a salad or just crunch in the evening in front of the TV. But homemade rusks have many more benefits. Most importantly, they do not contain chemical additives or preservatives. You can choose between two cooking methods. And you will certainly like some of them.
It is necessary
- For the first way:
- - black bread (rye) - half of the package;
- - sunflower oil - 3 tbsp. l.;
- - garlic - 4 cloves;
- - salt - 1 tsp with a slide.
- For the second way:
- - white bread (loaf) - half of the package;
- - sunflower oil - 3 tbsp. l.;
- - Russian mustard - 3 tsp;
- - water - 1 tbsp. l.;
- - salt - 1 tsp. with a slide.
Instructions
Step 1
Let's start with the first method. Cut fresh or slightly dried brown bread into cubes with a side of at least 2 cm or into oblong cubes.
Step 2
Turn on the oven and set the temperature to 220 degrees. In the meantime, peel the garlic cloves and crush them through a press (you can also grate them or chop them with a knife). Then, in a wide bowl, combine the sunflower oil and salt.
Step 3
Place the slices of bread in the dressing bowl and stir to soak each piece in the salty butter. Then take a baking sheet, line it with parchment paper and spread all the products on it. Bake them for 5 minutes in a well-preheated oven. After that, you need to turn it off, and leave the crackers inside for 20 minutes. This will give them a crispy crust and dry on the inside.
Step 4
Remove the finished croutons from the oven, immediately transfer from into a bowl, sprinkle with chopped garlic and stir. After that, they can be served with borscht or soup, as well as offered as a snack for beer.
Step 5
Method two. By analogy with the first method, cut the bread or loaf into cubes (bars). Turn on the oven and set the temperature to 160 degrees. Cover a baking sheet with parchment and place all the pieces on it. Bake them in a preheated oven for 5 minutes.
Step 6
While the products are being prepared, we will make a mustard dressing. In a small bowl, combine sunflower oil, mustard, water, salt and mix well
Step 7
Then remove the dried crackers from the oven and transfer them to a bowl. Mix them thoroughly with the mustard mixture. You can also take a plastic bag, put the dressing in it, and then pour the crackers into it and shake it well. This way they will be saturated even better.
Step 8
After that, put the seasoned products on a baking sheet again, send to the oven and bake for another 20 minutes at 160 degrees until a golden, beautiful crust appears. Such croutons can be added to salads or poured into a bowl and gnawed just like that.
