The answer to the question of how to dry crackers is not difficult. The easiest way to get crispy toasted pieces of bread is in the oven. Of course, you can also use the microwave for this purpose. However, in this case, croutons, unfortunately, will not get a crispy crispy crust. The same can be said for drying next to the stove. Moreover, in this case, the process will be too long.

It is necessary

  • - oven;
  • - rye or wheat bread;
  • - a sharp knife;
  • - cutting board;
  • - salt to taste;
  • - spices (hops-suneli, pepper).

Instructions

Step 1

So how do you dry crackers in the oven? Cut the bread first. You can take not too fresh (2-3 days), but of course, not spoiled. If the croutons are intended for soup, they should be in the form of cubes of about 1 x 1 cm. For the salad, toasted bread, cut into cubes, is used. The same goes for beer croutons. In this case, cut the bread into cubes.

Step 2

Rinse the baking sheet and dry well. Wipe down the walls of the oven itself. If this is not done, the croutons can absorb some foreign smell. Turn on the oven to preheat. The temperature can be set at 150-200 gr. In old ovens, bread crumbs are usually dried at a standard temperature of 180 degrees.

Step 3

Spread the sliced bread in one layer on a baking sheet. Only bread cut in the same way can be dried on one sheet. Mixing, for example, sticks and cubes is not allowed. Otherwise, some pieces may not dry out, and some may burn. If you want to get crackers with a golden crust, first grease the leaf with a little vegetable oil.

Step 4

How to dry crackers in the oven? Once the oven has warmed up to the desired temperature, simply place the sheet in it and close the door. After 10 minutes, open the cabinet and stir the croutons. When drying, the cubes can be left unchanged until cooked. The sticks should be stirred a few more times (about 4).

Step 5

Wait until the rusks are ready. If you cut bread, for example, into 1x1 cm cubes, twenty minutes will be enough for baking at a temperature of 140-150 degrees. For larger cubes, the drying time is usually 30-35 minutes. At a temperature of 180-200 degrees, drying most often takes no more than 10 minutes.

Step 6

Feel the croutons with a knife. If you feel stiffness, turn off the oven and close the oven door. Wait until the cabinet has cooled down and remove the ready-made crackers. Wait for them to cool down as well. Season with salt and seasoning if desired. Now you know how to dry crackers correctly.

Step 7

Fold the finished crispy cubes or wedges into a cotton bag. You can also store your croutons in a plastic container. Place the container itself in a dry, dark place. This can be, for example, a pantry or just a cabinet mezzanine. Do not store bread crumbs in the kitchen or any other similar place where they can pick up odors.

Step 8

Collect the breadcrumbs remaining on the baking sheet in a separate bag. In the future, they will come in handy for breading. Wash the oven and baking sheet. That's all. Delicious dried bread cubes and cubes can be used as intended.
