It is necessary

  • - watermelon;
  • - masking tape;
  • - children's felt-tip pen;
  • - paper;
  • - scissors;
  • - a sharp knife;
  • - toothpicks;
  • - various fruits.

Instructions

Step 1

Lay the watermelon flat on its side so that it rests fairly firmly on the table. If all sides are round, cut off one of the edges to make the bottom. At the same time, it is important to immediately determine where the basket will have a handle, so that it turns out to be smooth and beautiful, the watermelon should lie on its side, and not on the end.

Step 2

Find the "equator" of the watermelon, for this, stick masking tape in the center. Use a non-toxic, water-washable pen for kids to draw a straight line along the watermelon. Find the center of the line on the sides and connect with tape, circle the pen line with a felt-tip pen.

Step 3

On paper, draw a patterned stencil for the pen. It can be a small diamond or a circle with a hole in the center, or any other shape. The main thing is that it should be repeated an integer number of times along the length of the handle. Attach the stencil to the beginning of the pen, glue it with tape and circle it with a felt-tip pen. Then peel off, attach above and circle again. Thus, draw the entire handle of the basket.

Step 4

Create the patterned edge of the basket in the same way. Apply a stencil (the same or different) and trace around it with a felt-tip pen until the entire edge is openwork. If necessary, the links of the chain can overlap a little or, on the contrary, diverge.

Step 5

Start cutting out the basket. Take a small, sharp knife, preferably one with teeth. Using the sawing motion, cut the watermelon along the drawn contour on both sides. If the pattern is too delicate, you can cut it next to the outline, leaving the delicate work for later.

Step 6

Gently scrub the watermelon under the handle, then work through the small details. Cut the teeth along the edges of the watermelon basket, small holes, hearts, circles.

Step 7

Decorate with fruit when the basket is ready. You can put any fruit in the center - strawberries, grapes, slices of watermelon or melons, peaches, etc. Some fruits can be used to decorate the handle, edges or the outside of the fruit basket using toothpicks.
