Decorate the jellied meat or fish on your table with onion lilies. Peel, wash the medium onion with cool water. Use a sharp knife to cut small triangles from the center of the onion and divide the onion in two. To make it easier to separate the scales from one another, make an incision on the side. Then connect the scales together, but only so that the sharp ends of the petals of one scale fall into the cuts between the petals of the other row. Round the petals of the resulting lily slightly.
