Unlike raw onions with a bitter taste and pungent odor, pickled onions have a pleasant aroma and pleasant taste.
There are different varieties of onions - hot, medium hot, and sweet. The most delicious is the red onion, which does not have unpleasant onion bitterness. You can also add a small amount of white onions to pickled red onions, which will diversify the colors and add different flavors to the dish.
Pickled onion recipes
To pickle onions in vinegar, use 3 medium onions, 70 grams of 9% vinegar, 250 milliliters of cold water, 50 grams of sugar, 10 grams of salt, and herbs to taste. To prepare the marinade, mix sugar, salt and vinegar with water, chop the onion in half rings and put them in a jar or other container. Pour the marinade on the finely chopped onion and put the jar with it in the refrigerator for half an hour. After thirty minutes, pickled onions can be served with any salads, fried potatoes or meat.
The onion marinade does not need to be boiled - it is completely ready for pickling in its original form.
For those who love this dish, but do not like vinegar, the following recipe is perfect - onions marinated in lemon juice. For the marinade, you need the juice of one lemon, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 50 milliliters of water, 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil, freshly ground black pepper and herbs to taste. All components must be thoroughly mixed and pour the marinade on the onion, cut into half rings, completely covering it. You can use the pickled side dish in half an hour.
You can also cook the onion in the microwave - cut it into thin rings, fill it with boiled water, add a teaspoon of salt and 4 tablespoons of 9% vinegar. Put all this in a sealed container and microwave (at maximum power) for 10 minutes. After this time, remove the onion from the microwave, discard it in a colander and cool it under running ice water. Finished pickled onions can be added to herring or a variety of salads.
