Delicious appetizer. Despite the fact that it needs to be cooked for at least two days, it practically does not require time. And the result is amazing. The snack turns out to be much tastier than expensive store delicacies.

It is necessary

  • • Fresh frozen herring - 2 pcs. 450 g each;
  • • Carbonated water - 500 g;
  • • Onion-turnip - 1 head;
  • • Coarse salt;
  • • Granulated sugar;
  • • Wine (apple) vinegar - 30 ml;
  • • Peas of black and allspice - 7 pcs;
  • • Lavrushka - 4 leaves.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the herring for pickling. Defrost it, peel it from the insides and skin. Cut off fins, head and tail. Cut into small portions and put in a not very deep glass bowl.

Step 2

Prepare a pickle-pickle for pickling herring. In a small saucepan with a capacity of 3 liters, mix the ingredients: mineral water with gas, salt with sugar, lavrushka and peas of allspice and black pepper.

Step 3

Place a saucepan with a tightly closed lid over high heat and boil its contents. Let the brine boil over high heat for 6 minutes. Remove the pot of brine from the heat.

Step 4

Add vinegar to the brine, set aside for a while to cool the resulting marinade. Transfer the prepared herring into a ceramic bowl with high sides.

Step 5

Pour all the cooked and already cooled marinade directly onto the herring. Do not stir! Remove the tightly closed bowl with herring on the top shelf of the refrigerator and forget about it for two days (at least!).

Step 6

Peel off the husk from the onion. Rinse and chop finely with almost transparent rings. Remove the bowl of herring from the refrigerator, drain the marinade from it and lightly rinse with the most ordinary cold water.

Step 7

Put herring ready to eat into a special dish. Sprinkle with onion rings and top with corn oil. Serve with only boiled hot potatoes.
