Quite often, during the preparation of various dishes, it becomes necessary to make 9 percent vinegar from 70 percent, that is, dilute it to the desired consistency. There are several convenient ways to prepare essences of a certain strength.
Instructions
Step 1
Calculate how many parts of water it takes to dilute the essence to make 70 percent vinegar into 9 percent. To do this, divide the original percentage of vinegar essence by the desired one and round off the resulting number, which will represent the required amount of water.
Step 2
Divide 70 by 9 to get a rounded number of 8. This means dilute one part of 70 percent vinegar with eight parts water (1 part = 1 tablespoon) to make a 9 percent solution. In the same way, you can get 3%, 6% or 8% vinegar, also often used in cooking.
Step 3
You can quickly make 9% vinegar from 70% vinegar using a regular faceted glass found in almost every kitchen. This container holds 17 parts of water. It is enough to add 2 more tablespoons of 70 percent vinegar to make a glass of 9 percent.
Step 4
Dilute vinegar with cold bottled or boiled water. First, pour the required amount of water into a clean dish, then add acetic acid according to the calculations performed and mix thoroughly. Store the solution in a bottle with a stopper or tight cap.
Step 5
Vinegar has long been used not only for culinary, but also for medical purposes, for example, before it was often used to disinfect wounds, and now it often becomes the basis of compresses or a wiping agent. To do this, the vinegar essence is diluted to 3 or 6 percent. It is enough to wet a towel in the solution and start rubbing or apply a cloth to the forehead. This remedy relieves fever and headache well.
