Tomato and cucumber salad is a favorite dish of many. It is eaten separately or supplemented with side dishes and meat. However, the scientists concluded that it is strictly forbidden to mix cucumbers with tomatoes.
Making mixed tomato and cucumber salads is not recommended, even for those who do not adhere to the principles of healthy eating. Red tomato and green cucumber are antagonistic foods, and it is not a matter of external color difference. Tomatoes, when consumed, create an acidic environment in the stomach and digestive tract, while cucumbers create an alkaline environment.
From the course of elementary chemistry, it is known that when alkalis interact with acids, salts are formed. With frequent use of salad from these vegetables, problems with the liver and kidneys may arise, and as a result, the filtration of the body will be impaired.
To digest cucumbers and tomatoes, the stomach must produce completely different enzymes. According to the laws of physiology, this is impossible, so while one of the vegetables is being digested, the second quietly rots in the intestines. The consequences of eating such a salad can be very different: bloating, increased gas formation, pain in the epigastrium.
Tomatoes contain a lot of vitamin C, but the enzymes contained in cucumbers contribute to the destruction of ascorbic acid and negate the benefits of eating salad.
If both of these vegetables are loved, then it is better to consume them separately, with an interval of at least two hours.
