Step 1
To prepare a drink using this method, you will need to buy dry kvass at the store. It usually contains rye malt, sugar, yeast, and ground crackers. Pay attention to the composition - crackers can be made from different flours, the taste of the future kvass depends on it. No preservatives are desired yet, so read the label carefully.
Step 2
To make kvass, you will need warm boiled water and a jar. Pour boiling water over the jar, then pour 3 tablespoons of the mixture into it, put 3 tablespoons of sugar, several crusts of rye bread and a bag of dry yeast. Fill halfway with warm water and stir. Tie the jar with gauze to keep out the wine flies, which like to breed in this environment.
Step 3
Place the jar in a warm place and wait 24 hours. During this time, fermentation will begin. Add 2 more tablespoons of dry kvass and 1-2 tablespoons of sugar. Add warm water almost to the neck, tie it back with gauze and place in a warm, dark place. After 2-3 days, the first kvass is ready. It smells a little like yeast. Drain it, strain and refrigerate, and add warm water to the jar with the sediment, add sugar, dry kvass and put it on for a day or two. The second kvass will already be much tastier.
