Rosehip compote has the smell of herbs, childhood and vitamins. Indeed, a rare mother does not brew a natural, healthy and nutritious drink for her child. Rosehip compote is a delicious way to fight colds and vitamin deficiency. Even dried fruits contain an incredible amount of vitamin C and carotene, let alone high levels of potassium, iron, phosphorus. So, how to cook a wonderful rosehip compote?
It is necessary
-
- ½ cup dry fruits or 1 cup fresh rose hips,
- 600 g sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ cup dried apples or any berries (currants
- raspberries
- blackberry).
Instructions
Step 1
Rinse dried or fresh rosehips thoroughly. If you are cooking from fresh rose hips, select firm, well-ripened fruits. The larger the berries, the healthier and more valuable the drink will be.
Step 2
Remove fluff from fresh rose hips. Cut it in half and take out all the seeds - they are useless in the compote. Then rinse the berries again under running water. Soak dried rose hips in water for 5-10 minutes.
Step 3
Make sugar syrup. Boil a liter of water and dissolve the sugar in it. Bring the syrup to a boil and add all the rose hips. Cook for a few more minutes.
Step 4
Add another 2 liters of boiling water. If desired, you can add dried fruits or fresh berries. Stir, bring to a boil, remove from heat and let the compote brew for 30 minutes.
Step 5
Strain, add lemon juice. Rosehip compote is ready.
