The quality of milk sold in stores is kept at about the same level, but the rural milk sometimes leaves much to be desired. When shopping at a rural market, there are some tricks you can use to distinguish quality milk. Of course, you will not be allowed to conduct an "investigative experiment" right at the bazaar, but when you come home, it will not be superfluous to check the purchased product.

litmus paper, rubbing alcohol

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, pay attention to the container in which the milk is sold. Try to take only what is poured in glass jars. Firstly, the plastic bottle cannot be sterilized, therefore, pathogenic bacteria can develop in it. And secondly, it is very difficult to rinse the bottle well even with the help of a brush, which means that the milk will either quickly turn sour, or you will poison it altogether due to the presence of pathogenic flora.

Step 2

A layer of heavy cream appears on the surface of the milk a few hours after milking. If there is a thin film floating on top of the milk, then it is possible that it was passed through the separator before being sold. Accordingly, you can completely forget about fat content. If you want to buy exactly whole milk, give preference to liquid with a rich white color and a thick layer of cream on the surface. But do not forget that cream does not appear on fresh milk, it takes time for them to form.

Step 3

Some grandmothers add soda, acetylsalicylic acid to milk to keep the product fresh longer. To identify various chemical additives, you can use the usual litmus strip, since it is not so difficult to buy it now. If the blue litmus test turns red, it means there are impurities in the milk that may not be the best for your health. When there is no change, you can buy the product.

Step 4

Milk undiluted with water or skimmed milk quickly curdles under the influence of alcohol. Pour milk into a small container and add the same amount of undiluted rubbing alcohol. Shake the container and pour the liquid onto a saucer. If the milk is curdled, it is most likely undiluted.

Step 5

Be careful when buying dairy products. Do not forget to pay attention to the seller himself, if he is untidy, then it is better to refuse to buy and go to any nearest supermarket for pasteurized milk.
