On vacation, you have more time to pay attention to your diet and exercise load; we sleep more and better, we are less nervous, and summer outfits and trips to the sea motivate us to look slim and fit … But then why do 90% of vacationers return to work with weight gain?
Almost everyone who returned from vacation with extra pounds can be divided into two groups. The first will include those who strenuously put themselves in shape the day before, namely, sat on a strict diet. But the increase would occur even if the person stayed at home: the reverse weight gain, and even with an increase, is a well-known consequence of all fast and hungry diets.
The second group includes those who have recently joined proper nutrition. The key word here is "recently". Old habits are still too strong, and often a person is simply not able to refuse the same ice cream, especially since everyone around is devouring it with appetite!
But what exactly is the reason for weight gain?
Firstly, on vacation, we do not plan our meals. At home, we can draw up a menu in advance, buy everything you need, make preparations … On vacation, no one wants to take a snack to the beach or an excursion, and the hotel staff will obviously not compose a breakfast buffet based on your diet. But, if you do not want to hear "compliments" from colleagues about a tight skirt, then try to make your food as close as possible to the scheme according to which you eat at home.
Suppose, in this case, the buffet only suits us: there is always something to choose from, and a hearty and hearty breakfast, as you know, is the key to successful weight loss! Try to skip lunch and always start your meal with a large vegetable salad or vegetarian soup. For snacks, keep an unsalted mixture of nuts in your purse, do not lean on sweets, but rather carefully study the entire range of local exotic fruits. Also start your dinner with vegetables and don't make it too late. Also, walk more, swim, play volleyball on the beach during the day, and go to the disco in the evening. But these are just general recommendations, and now let's move on to specific tips and tricks:
- Eat a variety of juices and sodas with caution. Your choice is regular mineral water. She, incidentally, quenches thirst better than any "cola". For motivation, remember the following numbers: 2 liters of water - 0 kilocalories, and 2 liters of sweet soda - 800 kilocalories!
- Don't look for a restaurant for too long - think in advance where you will have lunch and dinner. Otherwise, after a long search, finding a suitable restaurant, you risk forgetting about everything in the world and order (and then eat!) Half of the menu.
- Remember that if you do not cook meat in breadcrumbs, batter and deep fat, this does not mean that restaurants do not! Always check how a particular dish will be prepared. As a last resort, remember that the batter can always be carefully peeled off with a knife, and that the most "safe" dishes for the figure are grilled.
- Did you know that the sauce for a local salad can "weigh" about 500 kcal? Hence the following rule: always order the sauce separately and fill the dish yourself with a small amount.
- Forget about mashed soups. All of them are prepared with the addition of heavy cream. Do not console yourself with the thought that someone will whiten the soup with skim milk. Also, a decent amount of flour or starch can be added to thicken it. Therefore, choosing the first, stop at chicken broth or ear.
- Always ask about the side dish! If fried potatoes are served with the dish, ask to replace them with baked or boiled ones, or even better - with grilled vegetables.
- If the portion is large, share it with a friend. Better yet, always take half a serving. This is especially true for Asian countries.
- Be sure to drink with meals. Naturally, we are talking about mineral water without gas.
- If you crave sweets madly, then order it on the last day of your vacation and, preferably, eat it in the morning. So you will not have a feeling of deprivation, in addition, other restrictions will not be transferred so sharply.
- In general, for dessert, it is better to give preference to sorbet and fruit salads. Naturally, you should refrain from dessert for dinner.
- Don't try all of the new cuisine in one day! This is especially true for the buffet. Remember, they are most often repeated from day to day, in extreme cases - on the days of the week.
- And the last thing - do not become hostage to your own greed. Why stuff your stomach to overflowing with whatever comes to hand at breakfast at the hotel? Have you paid to overeat to the point of faintness? Not! You pay for the opportunity to choose from more delicious dishes and, little by little, gradually taste everything like a real gourmet!
