Delicious homemade Greek yogurt is easy to make yourself. All you need is a couple of jars of real commercial Greek yogurt and milk. Having bought yogurt once, you don't have to run to the store for it again.
It is necessary
- 4 cups low-fat milk (not ultra-pasteurized)
- 1/4 cup 2% of any yogurt
Instructions
Step 1
Strain the yogurt through a sieve. Heat milk over medium heat (do not stir while heating). Remove from heat and let cool to 160 degrees.
Step 2
In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup warm milk and yogurt (from step 1) until smooth. Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Place the bowl with the mixture in the oven and heat to 100 to 110 degrees. This temperature must be kept until the yogurt thickens. This will take approximately 5 to 7 hours. Then put everything in the refrigerator for 3 hours.
Step 3
Strain the resulting mass through a sieve to remove excess lumps. Serve yoghurt with pieces of fruit and nuts. Bon Appetit!
